Do I have to purchase (lease) a domain (a www.mywebsite.whatever.whatever) with my shared hosting package?

Domains are never owned, they are always leased across the industry for the time that you pay for them, you can lease them with us or another provider. If you lease through us, you are welcome to take them with you too!

I don't have an existing domain (www.address)

Yes, you will need to lease one. You are not obliged to lease one from us though but you are of course welcome to take advantage of our great deals on domain leasing, renewals and transfers. Transfers for domains ending with .uk, for example, .co.uk, .org.uk, .uk etc are free to transfer to us. This is because you need a domain for anybody to see your website and for you to set up Email addresses @yourwebsite.

No, you don't have to purchase (lease) a domain.

You are welcome to update the nameserver records with the domain registrar for your domain (this will be who you leased it through or who you last renewed/transferred the domain with) to our nameservers and never leave the company that you leased your domain through. This is a cheap way of doing things and we won't charge you for doing this. We can guide you through that process.

Our Nameservers Are:

ns1.poundawebsite.com

ns2.poundawebsite.com

Updating nameservers can take up to 48 hours to take effect (to propagate) but in many cases it can happen within minutes. This is just the nature of the internet.

Please Remember:

1. One website per cPanel package - Although you can lease as many domains as you like through us, only additional domains pointing to exactly the same website can be linked to a cPanel account where you already have a domain. If you wish to host a second website, you will need a second cPanel account. Regardless of how many cPanel accounts you hold, these can all be accessed through the same client area for ease of access.

2. In order to reserve the continued right to use your domain, you regularly have to renew it and they are leased with a minimum of a 1 year term. If you do decide to transfer your domain to us, for ease of management, and then you decide to leave us at any point, you can either transfer your domain to a new provider or you can continue to manage your domain through us and point the nameserver records to the new hosting company free of charge (subject to the usual renewal costs as they fall due).

No Refunds on Domains

You can't get refunds for domains. There is a cost for transferring website domains to us (we get charged by our suppliers) and there is a charge for each domain you lease to begin with, transfer to us and upon renewal and this is the same for our competitors too. There is more information on our pricing within our terms and conditions that can be accessed at the bottom of every poundawebsite webpage.

Further Advice

We offer over 300 competitively prices domains TLDs for you to choose from (.co.uk, .com, .net etc). We also recommend that you purchase more than one domain to account for any spelling errors by your visitors and to avoid others leasing very similar domains.

We also recommend you think carefully about visitors spelling a domain the way it sounds instead of the way it should be spelt.

Lastly, we make a small profit on domains leased through us and sometimes on domains transferred to us but the offering remains extremely competitive, on initial leasing, on renewals and on domain transfers.

If this doesn't answer your enquiry, please do not hesitate to raise a support ticket from within your client area and we'll be happy to look into this for you or alternatively, if you do not have a client account yet, you are welcome to fill in our contact form or Email us on sales(at)poundawebsite.com and we will reply to you as soon as possible.

We are also available on the telephone Monday-Friday, 6pm-12pm on +44(0)3303 501262 Option 1 for Sales. We can't take payments on this line but we'll be happy to take you through the process.
