How do I move my website from my current hosting provider?

poundawebsite offers a free migration service to all of our shared hosting clients where they are using cPanel or Plesk already. Please raise a support ticket with details of the cPanel/Plesk Server Address, cPanel/Plesk Username and the cPanel/Plesk password from within your client area. We aim to have your website migrated within 3 working days.

For other control panels, we are happy to provide advice. This will typically involve:

a) Exporting your databases via phpMyAdmin from your old server, creating new databases using cPanel's Database Wizard and then importing your databases on to the new server through phpMyAdmin.

b) Downloading your directories and files via FTP from the old server and uploading them via FTP to the new webserver.

c) Using Mozilla Thunderbird (installable on Windows and Linux for free), for each mailbox:

1. Create an account using the old server (not your domain name) address as your host

2. Create an account using the new server (not your domain name) address as your host

3. Dragging and dropping mail for inboxes, sent, drafts, deleted, templates etc to the corresponding folder on the new email address.

d) Either transferring or renewing your existing domains to/with us or updating the nameservers with your current domain registrar.

Our nameservers are:

ns1.poundawebsite.com

ns2.poundawebsite.com

We do not offer any warranty on our free migration service and you are welcome to follow the process immediately above yourself.

If this doesn't answer your enquiry, please do not hesitate to raise a support ticket from within your client area and we'll be happy to look into this for you.
